Chesapeake
Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve - MD
The
Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Maryland is part of a
national reserve system established by Congress in 1972 to protect estuarine
areas as natural field laboratories for long-term research and monitoring. The
National Estuarine Research Reserve System is administered by the National Oceanic
and Atmospheric Admin. The Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve
in MD is managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources in cooperation
with local government agencies and private landowners.
